– Jim Bryan Knows About And Cares About —

• the Environment – The Panhandle can be clean. We can recycle economically. We can have industry that provides honest work without producing waste.

• Economic development – I don’t see why the Panhandle isn’t booming. We’re not talking smokestacks, either.

• Farmers’ problems – it’s called “agricultural policy” in Washington. But, you see, I grew up on the farm and think more about land, crops and farmers than agriculture.

• National security –  A strong military is vital. But the war in Iraq, even more than the war in Viet Nam, undermines our security by devastating our armed forces and promoting the myth that every problem can be solved by sending an expeditionary force to subdue the natives. I was there, at eighteen, a paratrooper fighting in Viet Nam.

• Most of all, I love America. I believe deeply in the Constitution and the first ten amendments, the Bill of Rights. I believe in the values that made America great. I will defend them until I die and teach my children to do the same. Given the wisdom of which America is capable, if we choose, we can have prosperity, justice, a clean environment and peace in the world around us – Jim Bryan
